AEPRY is giving its best to flood victims in Kalay. The unexpected heavy monsoon poured down in Chin State and other states in Myanmar from 25 – 29 July. Ten States out of fourteen states in Myanmar have been suffering heavy flood. The most effected states are Chin, Sagaing, Rakhine and Ayeyawady. President U Thein Sein declared Chin, Sagaing, Rakhine and Ayeyawady regions as emergency states. The flood left thousands of people homeless. The flood in Kalay has been recorded as the worst flood in its history. Landslide in Chin State became the worst ever landslide in Chin history leaving thousands of families homeless. According to local media report two villages in Tonzang Township (Takzang and Khamzang villages) and one village from Tedim Township have been evacuated to safe place due to landslide which will cost the whole village disappeared. About 25 houses from Nakzang village, Tonzang Township have been evacuated to Lungtak village to escape from the flood. All their houses were washed away by the heavy flood. People from Takzang village (30 HH) have been evacuated to Salzang village to escape from possible landslide. People from Khamzang village (10 HH) have been evacuated to Phaitu village to escape from possible landslide. All these people will need help to rebuild houses and also food to eat wherever they are. We humbly urge people of good heart to come forward to help out our brothers and sisters who are in urgent need of our help.
