We are constructing 140′ x 12′ size village bridge at Sialthawzang village, Tonzang Township, Chin State, Myanmar. The construction of this bridge begins in the last week of May, 2015. There are more than 200 HH with a total population of 1500 in the village, and the village is the biggest village in Tonzang Township. It is surrounded by small and big streams which are usually full of water in raining season and the people are not able to go across the streams in raining season. The village is always cut off from Kalay, the nearest town, where they go for marketing and health care. Many people have lost their lives due to lack of proper transportation and proper road that goes to the nearest hospital, i.e. Kalay Township Hospital. This new bridge will help the people to have better access to hospital and to do better marketing between the village and neighboring villages.
The construction of the bridge is in progress and expected to be completed in the last week of July. However, there is one space to be filled up with stones and sands which is not possible to do it now due to heavy monsoon in the region. Having a bridge is a very great advantage for the community in terms of transportation and marketing. Students from the other side of the stream will have better road to go to school. This project will help the people to improve their living standard.
